Yep, My Coffee Went Cold... Again

Yep, My Coffee Went Cold... Again.
My coffee went cold again this morning. Not once. Not twice. Several times.
The rings inside the cup told the story—reheated, forgotten, reheated again. I smiled as I looked down into the mug because, honestly, it felt a little like looking into a mirror.
I started my morning with good intentions. I poured a fresh cup of coffee, settled into my chair, and looked forward to a quiet moment with the Father, wondering what He wanted to say to me.
Then life happened. A notification, a text message, a quick reheat, and then a knock at the door. Before I knew it, I was doing dishes. Another reheat. A quick chat with a friend... and my coffee sat there beside my chair, cold. Again.
It made me wonder how often this happens with the things that matter most. I don't usually drift away because of something wrong. More often, it's the good things—the responsibilities, the people, the little interruptions of life—that quietly pull my attention elsewhere.
Those little interruptions quietly steal my attention until the moment I was looking forward to has slipped away—along with the chance to enjoy my one allowed cup of coffee for the day. Welcome to the age when caffeine is only allowed in small doses!
Thankfully, the Father isn’t keeping score the way I sometimes do. He doesn’t look at me and say, “Well, you missed your chance.” He doesn’t toss me aside because my heart has become distracted or a little cold.
Instead, He gently invites me back into the warmth of His presence... rings and all.
That may be my favorite part of the whole lesson. He already knows the interruptions. He knows the distractions. He knows my good intentions. And He still says, “Come.”
No guilt. No condemnation. Just another invitation.
So today, whether your coffee is hot, warm, cold, or you’ve already reheated it three times, take a breath. Look up. Receive the moment you’ve been given. The Father is still here.
And maybe add a generous squirt of whipped cream for good measure! Just sayin’.
